The WLAO has opened the nomination process for new directors and committee members. The WLAO was established in 1919 and is dedicated to empowering women in the legal profession by providing a collective voice and advocating for equality, diversity and change.
WLAO Board of Directors
We are seeking energetic, committed and engaged WLAO members in good standing, who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors and helping to ensure strong and effective direction in fulfilling the WLAO’s mission.
We anticipate filling 2 board positions. Duties of a director include:
• active participation at 10-12 board meetings per year,
• serving on at least one WLAO committee, and
• attending key WLAO social events.
Nominations are for a 2-year term. If you are interested in serving as a director and have been practising for 3 years or more, you are invited to submit a self-nomination in the form of a letter of application and brief biography.
WLAO Committees
If you are interested in becoming more involved with the WLAO, we are also seeking volunteers for our committees. WLAO committees play a vital role in the operation of the Association. We currently have open positions on the following WLAO committees:
• Advocacy;
• Communications;
• Events and Programming;
• Membership;
• Mentorship; and
• Sponsorship.
Committee members are asked to actively participate in the work of the Association by attending meetings and helping to fulfill the annual goals of the committee.
If you are a member in good standing and would like to become more involved with the WLAO by serving on a committee, you are invited to submit a self-nomination in the form of a letter of application, indicating your committees of interest, and brief biography. Nominations from law students and licensing candidates are welcome.
