Since 1919, the WLAO has empowered women in the legal profession by providing a collective voice and advocating for equality, diversity and change. With membership open to law students, lawyers and judges, this non-profit organization – the first Canadian women’s legal association – has advanced issues relevant to women in law for the past 100 years. Today, the WLAO continues as one of the oldest surviving independent legal associations in Ontario.

The Ontario Heritage Trust’s Provincial Plaques Program commemorates significant people, places and events in Ontario’s history. Since 1956, 1,285 provincial plaques have been unveiled.
